For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

What is The Gunslinger's Guide to Rexfald?

The Gunslinger’s Guide to Rexfald is a Western-themed supplement designed for D&D 5e (2014 & 2024) packed full of content inspired by the countless movies, books, and games of the Western genre. Containing new thematic subclasses, origins, species, firearms et cetera, along with the endless frontier of Rexfald, a territory covered with guns, grit, and glory pulled straight from Wild-Western myth and legend.

Is Rexfald a Campaign Setting?

Rexfald is both a full campaign setting and a collection of creatures and locations to include in your own homebrew games. Every part of the setting integrates seamlessly with any world that allows for high-western grit and adventure, whether that be a world like Eberron, the Forgotten Realms, the Deadlands, or your own homebrew world, as a glorious legend-laden frontier to explore. Whether experienced as its own universe or as a part of another, Rexfald has enough depth with its unique territories, environments, towns, creatures, and stories to provide a Wild-Western adventure wherever and whenever you choose to place it.

Rexfald, much like the West, adapts to how you run it. The setting has a fully-integrated cosmology and set map, but the Endless Frontier has enough space that entire worlds can be placed within its borders or uncovered just beyond the horizon. As for the “Western” themed character options included, they are all designed to be played in any setting, and special lengths have been taken to allow all of them to work in worlds that do not contain firearms.

What system is The Gunslinger's Guide to Rexfald written for?

Both The Gunslinger’s Guide to Rexfald and Bounties of The Highwayman are written and designed for D&D 5e. The system has been balanced for the 2024 version of D&D, but special effort has been given to include options for players who prefer the 2014 ruleset. The books will be dual-compatible with both versions upon release, and both GMs and Players will be able to use either book with whatever version they prefer.

As lovers of both the 2014 and 2024 versions of D&D, we built Rexfald to resonate with players that prefer either system, or a mixture of both. The integration is organic, and no additional work is needed by either the GM or the Player to work within either ruleset while using content from Rexfald.

What is in each book?

The Gunslinger’s Guide to Rexfald contains everything you need to explore the Endless Frontier, or add a part of it into your own homebrew world! You will get all of the character options, new species, firearms, new mechanics and a bunch more stuff to add into your saddlebag (depending on what Stretch Goals we manage to unlock!)

Bounties of The Highwayman is a high-stakes Campaign Adventure that sees a group of adventurers ride to redeem or eliminate 12 unique bounties across every corner of the Endless Frontier. Special new rules for forming a gang or posse, tracking bounties, and leaving unique calling cards are included with the adventure.

While The Gunslinger’s Guide to Rexfald provides an Endless Frontier of fun, Bounties of The Highwayman provides a detailed adventure to tell the dramatic high-Western stories you always dreamed of enthralling your players with!

What will be on the GM Screen?

In addition to basic rules for D&D 5e the GM Screen will contain two unique pieces of information.

A portion of the screen include rules for using Duel Action with the Showdown System, including charts and special tables for duel environments, events leading up to the duel, and duel complications.

Another portion of the screen will include information for using mounts and Mount Companions, including level-up charts and stat-trackers for those mounts.

The rest of the screen will contain rulesets for the new firearm types, mobile bastions, and other Rexfald-exclusive items.

Does the book contain AI images?

No. From the very beginning we have always been staunchly against AI art. We have never and will never include it on any project, including this one. Feel secure in the fact that we will always support real artists using their talents to make our passion a reality.

I have never backed a Kickstarter before, how does it work?

First, you back the project here on Kickstarter by selecting a reward tier (on the right sidebar). What that means is that you support us making the project, and that you will get rewards based on your pledge level.

After the Kickstarter campaign concludes, Kickstarter will process your pledge (but you won’t be charged for shipping just yet). A few weeks later, you’ll receive an email invitation to our BackerKit pledge manager. This will be sent to the email address you use on Kickstarter, so make to use one you check regularly!

Using Backerkit we will gather the necessary information we will need to ship the products to you - which is usually just your shipping address. You will also get the chance to change your pledge to a higher pledge tier if you would like to, or to include add-ons to your order. Afterwards, you proceed to pay for shipping and VAT (if applicable), the amount depending on which country the physical rewards are shipped to.

When you are done with your Backer Survey and paid for shipping or any potential upgrades to your pledge, you are all done on your side! The rest of it all is on us. We’ll make sure to finish production and manufacturing as soon as possible, and send your rewards to you!

We will stay in touch with consistent updates and calls to action throughout the entire process, so you always know exactly what’s happening. If there’s ever anything you need to do, we’ll let you know—but don’t worry, this is easier than it looks at first glance!

How do I include add-ons like the Brass Bullet Dice for example?

When selecting your reward tier, you’ll have the option to add extra items before finalizing your pledge ok Kickstarter. If you don’t choose any at first, you can always hit ‘manage your pledge’, ‘change your pledge’, and add them before the campaign is over. You’ll have another chance to increase your pledge and purchase any additional add-ons you want when we send out our BackerKit surveys, so don’t worry about missing out.

What is a Pledge Manager?

In essence a pledge manager is a platform allowing us to better handle the pledges made on Kickstarter. We are partnering with BackerKit for our pledge manager, which should go live about a month after the Kickstarter concludes.

On that platform we will be able to securely collect shipping information, charge shipping and VAT expenses as well as ensure a seamless fulfillment.

Last updated: April 07, 2025 15:24

How do I pay for Shipping?

Shipping costs will be charged separately after the Kickstarter ends through BackerKit, our pledge manager. Please keep in mind that the estimated costs presented on the campaign page are subject to change based on your add-ons and pledge tier. Though we strive for accurate predictions, the ongoing global shipping situation is quite volatile. Once we have the finalized package weights, sizes, and any unlocked stretch goals, final shipping will be charged on BackerKit

Will new tariffs increase the price that I pay?

We here at Gneiss Games have elected to take-on the cost of any and all new tariffs personally when we fulfill our physical rewards. Your backing of us was a vote of confidence and we will not be adjusting prices after you pay for shipping. We hope you appreciate our efforts, and look forward to you getting your hands on Rexfald no matter what!

Last updated: April 07, 2025 15:24

When will I be charged?

After the Kickstarter campaign ends on May 8th, Kickstarter will automatically charge your chosen payment method for the amount you pledged. If you’ve picked a physical reward, remember that you’ll still need to cover shipping (check our estimated prices sheet) and any applicable sales tax. The exact amount depends on your order, location, and local tax rates. BackerKit will calculate this for you when it’s time to fulfill orders.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
